The Government of Nepal is integrating the Centralised Citizenship Management Information System (CCMIS) with the National ID Management Information System (NIDMIS) to strengthen digital governance. This initiative marks a major milestone in Nepal’s journey toward a more efficient, citizen-centric e-governance ecosystem.

What is CCMIS–NIDMIS Integration?
The integration of CCMIS with NIDMIS eliminates the need for citizens to fill out separate pre-enrollment forms for obtaining a National ID card. Previously, individuals had to submit similar information multiple times across different systems, leading to redundancy, delays, and inconvenience.
With this new system:
- Citizen data is shared seamlessly between platforms
- Duplication of information is minimised
- Administrative processes become faster and more accurate
Key Benefits for Citizens
According to Home Minister Om Prakash Aryal, this reform is expected to save both time and costs for the public. The integration simplifies the process significantly, making government services more accessible and user-friendly.
Here are the major benefits:
1. One-Day Dual Service
Starting from March 22, 2026, citizens receiving their citizenship certificate can now apply for their National ID on the same day, at the same office.
2. Reduced Bureaucracy
No need to visit multiple government offices—everything is handled in one place.
3. Biometric-Based Enrollment
Citizens only need to provide biometric data once, ensuring accuracy and security in identity management.
4. Time and Cost Efficiency
Less paperwork, fewer visits, and faster processing reduce both financial and time burdens on citizens.
Implementation and Expansion Plan
Currently, the integrated service has been launched in selected districts across Nepal. The government plans to gradually expand this system nationwide, ensuring that all citizens can benefit from streamlined digital services.
This phased rollout ensures:
- Proper testing and system optimisation
- Training of government staff
- Smooth transition from traditional processes
A Step Toward Digital Nepal
This initiative reflects Nepal’s commitment to building a modern digital infrastructure. By integrating key national systems, the government is taking a crucial step toward:
- Smart governance
- Digital identity management
- Improved public service delivery
- Transparency and efficiency
Why This Matters
Digital transformation in governance is not just about technology—it’s about improving the lives of citizens. The CCMIS–NIDMIS integration reduces administrative complexity and enhances service delivery, aligning Nepal with global best practices in e-governance.
